Dates

  • Semester 1 September – January
  • Semester 2 February – June
  • Full-year Program September – June

Note: students will need to arrive at least three days prior to the start of school and will attend an orientation.

Want to earn academic credits towards a B.C. High School Graduation Certificate or for transfer to your home country?

Students hoping to graduate with a B.C. Graduation Certificate must be prepared to study for at least two years (longer if English language skills require significant development).

Students are enrolled in a variety of academic and non-academic elective courses. We are able to confirm academic course enrollment prior to arrival, for students applying at least three months in advance of program start date.

English language improvement classes, focusing on academic reading and writing, are available to those students requiring extra support. However, students must join us with the language skills needed to begin study in a Canadian school setting. As a reference point, high school applicants could review the IELTS and consider a score of 4.0 as a minimum requirement for entry.

Enriched course work and focused areas of study are available to qualified students. These include select Advanced Placement courses, an Environmental Studies program and a variety of Athletic Academy Programs.

For periods of one year or less, students are enrolled in a variety of academic and non-academic elective courses, with an emphasis upon courses that encourage an understanding of Canadian culture and offer an opportunity for students to practice their English language skills in a highly-interactive environment.

Students younger than 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent who is able to live within one of our communities for the duration of the program.

August Academic Prep Program

Dates

  • Program available from August 5 – 29, 2025

Would you like to better understand the format of Canadian academic instruction?

The August Academic Preparation program takes place in August.

This program gives students the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful start to their studies in Canada. Classes are small and are taught by a qualified teacher who is familiar with our school settings. Essential academic vocabulary is taught, and students gain insight into the instructional methodologies and assessment practices used in Canadian schools.

We highly recommend this program to those students planning to earn a B.C. Graduation Certificate.
